Experiential Learning

Learning from experience

What is Experiential Learning

In its simplest form, experiential learning means learning from experience or learning by doing.

Experiential education first immerses learners in an experience and then encourages reflection about the experience to develop new skills, new attitudes, or new ways of thinking.

At Equenti, we teach leaders and their teams how to BE, rather than to do, because while many people can do leadership, being a great leader requires so much more. It requires you to leave the four walls of your office and BE with your team in action.

We challenge your thinking, behaviours and mindset and you experience first-hand what it’s like to be present with your team. We also remind you to have FUN.

Experiential learning focuses on collaboration, and learning from each other benefits the participant as it increases engagement.

Experiential learning focuses on learning by doing, you experience first hand what has been taught; retaining concepts and ideas.

Equenti’s experiential learning programs can be tailored to suit your organisation and team needs to deliver exceptional results.

Team Building

FUN is what you can expect to have when you experience team building training with Equenti.

Why? Because we value having fun at work as a leader with our people. If we’re not enjoying our work, it’s hard to engage and inspire our team.  We teach you how to have fun, engage your team and understand their real triggers so you can work together more effectively.

We pull you out of the office and put you in an environment that enables you and your teams to get the very best out of yourself and your experience and we make sure you’re having FUN while you’re doing it.

Hooked on Leadership

Hooked on Leadership is a two-day Brisbane based corporate-country style leadership program, which uses horses to help leaders to create cohesive teams and navigate any challenge with certainty.

Hooked on Leadership is a unique take on leadership facilitation, combining not only classroom and equine-facilitated experiential learning but also an environment that allows leaders to have a different experience. Leaders will discover their default leadership behaviours and get immediate, unfiltered feedback from our facilitators to help refine their leadership style on the spot.

Hooked on Leadership was created to reflect leaders’ behaviours and look at the psychology of how we manage people.

Developed by Angela Koning and Rebecca Livesey, it is a unique and different way to experience leadership training and team building.

Why do horses inspire us?

Angela Koning Leadership Consultant
You may lead a horse to water, but you can’t make it drink.

Horses are unique animals: they are very responsive to their environment and our energy, becoming instant mirrors for those around them. Horses sense and respond to a person’s intentions, emotions and thoughts that are conveyed subconsciously through body language. Similar to people in your team who aren’t engaged with you, horses give you direct feedback as to why your strategies aren’t working and why you aren’t getting the results for yourself as a leader in your organisation.

A natural horsewoman herself, Angela discovered the power horses have over people and their emotional state while working in leadership roles. She knew horses had the power to support, guide and teach successful leadership. Her programs and training combine years of horsemanship, leadership strategy and culture development.

Equenti’s flagship equine facilitated leadership program, Hooked on Leadership, provides a dynamic process of building leadership and self-awareness skills through horse-human interactions. The ability of managers and leaders to effectively embody these skills impacts an organisation’s culture, engagement and as a result, bottom line. Participants are able to identify their limiting behaviour patterns that inhibit them from developing trusting relationships in business with their teams and in their relationships outside of work. In this way they learn more about themselves, their emotional state and how they serve their people.
