A workshop series designed to align the Senior Leadership Team with our strategic future, fostering collaborative leadership and shared enterprise-wide vision.
Strategic Analysis Tools
As part of the strategy development process, we will complete three strategic analysis tools designed to support a thorough environmental scan. These tools are essential to shaping a shared understanding of the challenges and opportunities facing our organisation, now and into the future.
To support your analysis, we’ve provided a Guideline Document that acts as a research and preparation space. Use it to draft your responses, explore data sources and organise your ideas before final submission.
This document includes category definitions, prompting questions and a structured note-taking space. It is not the submission form – just a tool to help you prepare well.
Once ready, please select “Submit Response” forms linked below.
PESTEL
Helps identify broad macro-environmental factors that may influence NTAW’s business landscape. You’ll explore political, economic, social, technological, environmental, and legal trends that could impact operations, strategy, or direction. This tool encourages expansive thinking, beyond day-to-day business.
Porter’s Five Forces
Used to assess the dynamics of competition in our industry. It invites you to examine threats from new entrants or substitutes, power dynamics between suppliers and customers, and the intensity of market rivalry. The insights gathered will help highlight emerging risks or shifts in market structure.
Core Competencies
Focuses inward, helping you identify the unique capabilities and strengths that give NTAW its strategic advantage. Consider what we do exceptionally well, where we deliver unique value, and how those capabilities can be scaled or protected.

What You Need To Do:
- Complete all 3 environment scan forms (PESTEL, 5 Forces, Core Competencies)
- Refer to the guideline docs for context and instructions
- Engage your team or peers as needed, but submit your contributions independently
- Submit responses by the deadline, one response each
- Reach out for support or clarification as required
Key Milestones:
- Environment Scan Submissions – 31 August
- Environment Scan Synthesis Report – 3rd Week of September
- Strategy Development Workshop – 1st week October
